Has somebody been on an student exchange program in india for a year?

Has somebody been on an student exchange program in india for a year?
I'm asking this question because in August I will be leaving with the AFS program for a year in India..I was wondering whether anyone has had my experience already and could possibly give me some information on how do things go usually.. I can't seem to find anything on the internet, and since it's India, and not USA i'm going to, i have no idea what to expect >.<

^^ well i didn't go to India but I did go to Japan for a year. I loved it so much, I actually stayed for another year. It's a great experience no matter where you go. Seeing another culture and immersing yourself in it. The festivals were amazing and the people were very friendly (especially my first few weeks when all I could speak was choppy japanese). I was so nervous the night before I left, but I just told myself, this is the chance of a lifetime. Whatever happens, happens. So go for it and have fun!

Try looking through the discussions on cultures-shocked.org. Or perhaps AFS can supply the contact info for someone who has gone there. Good luck!!

i dont know much about the preschooling in us but in india u have write a competitive entrance exam to become a medico.and that is real tough because of the number writing here.but since u born in us ur parents would have something in their banks they could buy u a seat in a medical college.so after that if ur little good its not too far to become a doc.

You are questing for the impossible. You canny simply decide to become an American citizen. You need to apply for a green card and IF you are accepted (a lengthy process), you can live in the united states and after the passage of several years, apply for citizenship.

It is better to go as a student. For immigration purposes, you will be better off. Being a student allows you the time to learn about the place. As an employee, you need an employer to employ you. Won't that be difficult if you have never been there and you are inexperienced, you are only a fresher.Sart small and you will grow. If you really want to work there, as a student, you will have ample time to inquire directly about jobs while studying and it is also easy if you have some experience living in the place you will be better equipped and your immigration statue will also be better. Students are allowed to apply for work permits after a certain period.
