hi all, is there any way for ninth grade student in USA transition to a school in India? what are pain points?
Has someone relocated to India when their child was in ninth or tenth grade? Schools in India have subjects like History, civics etc which maybe greek and latin for the children studying in US schools. Is it a viable option for these children to finish off school in India? do the Indian schools accept these children in tenth grade? Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have not had experience with the educational system in India. However, I have from Columbia, SA to the United States. They would look at the students transcripts and the type of classes they had completed. If they were equitable they could continue on to next level classes. If, instead, they had not met the standard for their class level in India, they could be held back a year. GBYou

So i am crazy for cars, and i want a long car. I dont work and all, i am just a computer science student aged 21 and Living in India, i wanna buy FIAT LINEA worth rupees 6.6 lakhs On road price. I can arrange money but the only question is will the INCOME TAX department make any objections about where i got the money and why am i wanting a sedan. they surely not gonna get convinced if i'll say i am a car crazy! officially what problems am i gonna suffer?? if i buy the car. As you are of legal age, you are under the purview of the taxman. The question arises as to how you're going to finance the car. Obviously, you are not going to be eligible for a loan. In which case, the money is either yours through inheritance (for which you should have paid inheritance/estate tax) or through trust (no tax) or through a gift. Gift tax can be charged to the person who 'gifts' you the car/money. However, if you/your family have declared yourself to be a HUF (Hindu Undivided Family) then taxation rules are different. Best to spend INR 500 and get the legal advice from a tax lawyer or the opinion of a Chartered Accountant. As you can afford INR 660,000, this money would be well spent.

Movies are not real life. They do not represent reality. Don't assume that something you see in an American movie has much to do with the way people really live in the US. I can't speak for everyone, but you'd better believe that I studied hard and attended all of my classes. My university was very demanding. Students there went to class.

Why should I as a student lose my chance of attending my dream university in USA?
I am an international student from India. I have got admission in 5 universities out of 7 i have applied to and i am still counting on the other two. My best admit is IIT Chicago. I want to know why people at embassies reject student visas. It gives a life-time opportunity to study at best university in USA and I should be allowed to fulfill my dream of obtaining a MS degree from state-of-the-art institution. What are the major causes on which they reject students.

In my humble opinion, you shouldn't lose your chance to attend a University that accepts you for admission. However, unfortunately right now, international students are having a very difficult time coming & staying in the United States with all of the immigration/visitation concerns since the 9/11 attacks. I know...I've asked before...Student Visa from India...?
I know...I've asked before...Student Visa from India...?
Can anyone tell me anything? Don't worry - it'll all be known on Thursday and I'll stop asking. I know no one can tell me if he'll get it or not...but I'm SO dang nervous. I mean...if you meet all the qualifications (he has about 3 times as much money as is required plus sources of ongoing income...he has LOTS of ties to India - family, land, a business he owns and he's already been accepted and has his I-20)...it should be fairly easy - RIGHT??? I've heard so many stories...anyone ACTUALLY got a student visa from India (especially Delhi) that can tell me what it was like? What are some of the interview questions? Does age matter? (he's 35). Does it matter if he's not been in school much since high school? Sigh...sorry folks...just bear with me another couple days...the encouragement I've gotten here has REALLY REALLY helped!! Anything you can tell me will really be great! THANKS!!!!!

I hate to sound mean but i hate people like you because you make it hard for the people who do things legally. And file a normal fiance visa first then do all the marriage stuff the way it is suppose to be done. And you call yourself a christian!!

I must say, I am also a little confused - you are repeatedly asking about and saying how nervous you are about this guy getting a student visa, and how much money he has and looking for encouragement, then you say you are planning to marry him as soon as he gets here and that he doesn't have very much money... make up your mind! And the other answerer is right - here you are trying to lie to get him in the country so you can marry him and avoid the legal process - now you know why it is so difficult for people to get visas from the embassies - the applicants are always lying! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF - some Christian!

I think you are not going to be liking the answers here. In Schengen countries, people are always trying the same thing - they are always so much smarter than the law and the government. Across the world, India is seen as a land of fraud. I will not be surprised to learn that the US embassy sees through your scheme and his is denied a visa. This is as it should be. If you think he is so in love with you (and this is what, an Internet romance? You have never been with him?) then tell him you will fly to India to spend your life with him - see how fast he runs from you! I add this - you are newly divorced and lonely and vulnerable - an easy target for a man who wants immigration assistance from half way around the globe. I do not wish to be a cruel person - only to warn you to protect yourself - think all of this through and see the reality of it.

The breakdown of any society begins when individuals quit working for the good of all, and start working around and against society for their own personal wants and perceived needs. I want to specialise in corporate law.After going through the site of Yale I saw that the course is mainly for those interested in teaching law while going through the site of another top law school they said they provide placement assitance. I am not interested in teaching as of today,so am confused whether I want to continue LLm.... Please advice. only genuine answers please

Where you finally decide to go based on your concern for Law Practice, should take into consideration the state or in your case National Bar Exams that will license your concern! Yale will dispute being a teacher's course, prepare you for most Law Practices and the contacts you make there could be quite helpful. In Corporate Law however, New York Law School, dispute being a State Institution may be your best choice due to the proximity to Wall Street and the possibilities for internships. Likewise it will best prepare you for that State Bar Exam which is a good Vita plus!

I presume you're expressing an interest in corporate law because you'd like to work for one of the largest, highest paying law firms in the country. Frankly, the only reason these firms pay $125,000 a year to newly-minted lawyers is because they're expected to often work over 100 hours per week and put up with abuse that would never be tolerated by a lesser-paid person. But if this is what you want, there's only one way to get it. And that is to get admitted into the most prestigious law school that will accept you. The large, corporate law firms receive over 10,000 resumes each year. Recruiters don't have time to peruse all of your qualifications; so they first look for a reason NOT to hire you. And the first thing they'll look at is where you got your degree from. If it didn't come from a top-15 or top-20 law school (as defined each year by US News & World Report), you'll get nothing except a polite rejection letter. Generally speaking, the only exceptions are if you've got an inside connection with someone at the firm (friend, family, etc.), or if you're politically connected. My advice is to apply several (if not all) of the top-20 law schools and hope that one of them admits you. If you get admitted by more than one school, then you have the luxury of being more selective. If you truly possess the credentials to become admitted to Yale, then you are also qualified for admission into Harvard. Yale is traditionally regarded as more laid back, philosophical and academic-oriented; a much higher percentage of Yale Law School graduates go into judicial clerkships, academia, and government positions than graduates of Harvard. Harvard, on the other hand, has a reputation for admitting students that are much more competitive and offers a stronger emphasis on real-world applications. A much higher percentage of HLS graduates go to work for corporate law firms than YLS grads. A search of the biggest firms at www.martindale.com will reveal that almost all of the attorneys in large, corporate firms graduated from law schools ranked in the U.S. News top 20. So if this is truly your goal, then that is where you should start. Good luck.
