You will have no problem returning to your own country if you depart immediately. Since your old visa expired and the new application was rejected, there is no way to remain, or to delay your departure. If you do not return home immediately, then you definitely will have problems.

You would not have any issues leaving the country to return to India. You're already leaving, so they would have no reason to detain you and lengthen that process. As far as coming back to the US, the sooner you depart after the denial, the better. Staying will mean you begin to accumulate an illegal presence which would result in a re-entry ban. The shortest of these is 3 years for 180 days of illegal presence. The ban would make any future visas or visits very difficult, so should be avoided.

He will not be working there and he intends to return home. They would want to see his long term intentions without asking him that directly. He graduates and he wants to come back and help himself, family and his countrymen. They also want to know if he has any intention of working except for any internship which might be authorized as part of the course. He will be supported by his family resources. Those are the key.
