How come, a large no. of students are leaving the shores of India to embrace other countries for higher education.Recently it has been predicted that India will be short of the trained personnels in the near future for its onshore needs.Now India is catering the world for the increasing number of trained personnels required to run the machinery and wherewithals of different nations.Such talent can not be manufactured and needs to be cultivated and nurtured carefully for the progress of India.How can India meet this challenge of the future for its own needs.

I want to do MBBS in India and then come to USA for my medical college in USA. However when i talked to some of Indian doctors settled in USA said that nowadays MBBS from India rarely get into medical college of USA. I would like to know what are my chances of getting into medical colleges after doing my MBBS from India. i would also i like to know the tests required for India MBBS student.

I am going to make a radical suggestion. Why don't you go to medical school in India and become a fully qualified doctor first? Then you can come here, take USMLE( national exam boards). After that you will be required to complete an additional 3 years residency at a hospital. During your residency you get paid about $50, 000 USD a year. It is really tough with long hard hours but every doctor must go through it. It is a longer route but you avoid the tuition fees and huge student loans that American doctors have when they graduate from medical school. Good luck.

USMLE is not easy, if u cant clear it your years in India as a medical student will be wasted. Its just that there is too much competition for USMLE and unlike engineers the US doesn't want doctors, so the seats are very limited you will become a doctor in India and then when u come here, u would have to do ur graduation again probably in an unrelated field

I had applied for Spring 2012(Jan) semester as i was unable to apply for Fall 11 sem due to some problems. I had final year placement from Accenture and it might also give me joining by July end or August Starting and it has a bond of 1 year @ 1.5 lacs INR. I really love my branch and aspire to do higher studies from a reputed american University keeping money factor in mind but except my family other people, my friends, my relatives are all trying to pull me down and tell me facts like i am a stupid kid with insanity of going to US in my mind cropped in 2-3 days seeing other people go. They say take work ex in Accenture but how could i explain them, work ex counts if it is relevant to your specialization. I just don't want to be bounded my any shackles which IT companies put on, i want to be free to innovate, discover, observe and postulate. I am doing this as its my own wish, it had always been since my 2nd year when i dropped it as people said it costed like 40 lacs INR but later i decided i would be stable on my decision no matter whatever happens. I had admit from University of Massachusetts, Amherst for this Fall 11, even if i had applied for spring but i want to have much better options awaited(Research opp wise and Cost wise too). But I am loosing my temper and getting more frustrated everyday as Accenture date is closing in and possibly no response till 2 months from any Univ. I had really hopeful for getting admit in Virginia Tech and Texas A&M University, I had put really hard work in putting their application together but people are saying they are ambitious bet because of their ranking and excellent funding and low fee. Now i am getting more and more introvert, i don't like to talk to any of my relatives or friend at home, they always ask about that damn Accenture but no one cares about my dreams.. well in nutshell the Q is these are the factors and implications that i have told, my situation to have reader have clear picture and the real problem is getting introvert and frustrated. Colleges list i know fully, i had been spending 2 years in it.

My roommate is here on a Student Visa from India and works at a Subway...?
She works like 60 hours a week at a Subway and says she does not get overtime pay. The law here states that any hours over 40 are required to be paid time and a half. Is she s=working illegally? I thought on a Student visa you could only work for the school? shes off tuesdays, most days shes gone from 8a-11p. she stays up real late at night, i swear she sleeps only four hours a night

She is working illegally. She could work on campus but could not work off campus without special authorization and even then no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session.

Lots of foreign students come here with F-1 visas, quit when they run out of money, and then start working illegally while trying to figure out how to get a green card, usually by marrying a US citizen.

She is in BIG trouble. Student and working visas are two different things. One cannot do whatever they want when they are in the US on a student visa. Even though it is summer vacation, she is being taken advantage of with all those hours and no OT. Her employer is typically an idiot running a fast food joint. In ALL states, not asking to see her Soc. Sec. Card is a federal & State violation. This employer is using her, paying slave wages and Off the books & against the law. That Subway should be put out of business. You should report the Subway. It might save other desperate girls who are able to be manipulated by employers.

Hey guys, I'll try and be very concise here. I went to the UK in 2002 with family who kept on applying & getting refused from UK Embassy in 2-3 applications made within UK. During the course of time, I was studying and started pursuing a medical degree (MBBS) in UK in 2005. The university accepted me as a home student since I was studying there for three years. Family came back to India in 2006, and me getting fed up with my situation there (no rights, probability of detention) came back in 2008, hoping I would be granted a student visa. Applied 1st in Aug 2008 and they refused on the basis of "inadequate funds", then in Jan 2009 they termed my overstaying and some weirdly minor application that I couldn't recollect at all on the form as the reason for refusal and they have barred future applications till 2018 + accusing me of fraud against my uni for paying Home fees for 3 years when I had no business to. Now, my family is keen I should give Canada a try. I am fine either ways - studying in India or abroad. I want to know how much does my UK history affect my Canadian application. Will downplaying the situation help? Obviously to enter the Canadian medical education system, I would need to do a BSc first, but is this possible now-as in does the UK immigration history have the potential to really make the whole process of applying unnecessary? Am really desperate, really keen to do medicine and would love to hear some opinions, as to how I should proceed. Sincere thanks to everyone who contributed. Freebird mate, thanks for putting things so eloquently. I am at a decision-making phase and a voice of reason like yours is extremely helpful. At the time of admission, the moment the uni saw I was studying for 3 years, they just gave the offer as a Home student. Parents are still keen for me to go abroad, partly because dad feels guilty that his immigration decisions have had such repercussions and they are actively wondering whether I'll adjust to the Indian way of academics. S and maliving...: Guys, calm down! Negative much!? Do you guys know in what conditions people in immigration limbo sustain? I guess not, that's why you can sit on your moral high horse and spit judgements. From my 7 years in UK, yes 3 of which I paid home student fees, but 4 of which I was paying through my nose, and I used to work my ass off in community health projects taking care of the same above 50 year olds whose lack of pension you so conveniently blame on immigrants. What do you read for breakfast-The Daily Mail? If you can't contribute constructively, please keep your generalisations for coffee-table conversations to impress your mates, not at people posting on public forums in difficult situations.

You were guilty of fraud when you paid home fees at Uni in the UK. You didn't give them the information they needed or you would have been charged international fees. Canada may consider your application but if they share information with the UK you are likely to be refused there too. You can't hide your UK history so if you apply for any other country you are taking a risk. What you call downplaying is nothing short of lying. Countries check visa applicants carefully and lies on your application, either get you no visa, or if discovered later get you deported and banned. That's what happens when you cheat the system. Your history will cause you problems with any type of visa you apply for to any country. You should plan for a long term future in India.

Why not study in India. Doctors there are well regarded and I suspect that medical travel will only increase and there will be more business for India, Korean, etc. doctors from US patients. You can't hide your UK track record from Canada and they will take it into account.

I am sick of people taking financial advantage of this countries nicety. Have you ever thought of paying back to the UK what you have taken out. Pensioners are in a dire state in this country as they are treated less than third world nationals. The country has no money for us after working more than 50 years paying taxes on our earnings. It seems it has plenty to offer those that have not paid a penny in. Finished reading the Bombay Times have you and I dont read the Daily Mail to find out the devastation which is happening in front of everyones eyes in my country. Don' pretend you can't see it either. Is your country being overun by many chancers?

Dr.S.Radha Krishnan was one of the most influencial person for india, indeed he was student friendly, he use to encourage economically backward students a lot, he used to give books as gifts to lots of students..in return we respect him, by celebrating his birthday as teacher's day...infact lot of students dress up like teachers,lawyers,doctors,policemen,etc on teachers day, showing signs that,students are future citizens of our country..so students too enjoy the celebration with the teachers, bcoz we students enjoy his birthday as a festival, students never tought of changing the name of celebration

What do women who live in India do when they get their period?
What do women who live in India do when they get their period?
My roommate is and international student from India. She did not know how to use feminine hygiene (still doesn't know about tampons), and I was just wondering how this could be so? What do they do when it's their time of the month? She uses pads, but she didn't know how to used them. With my tampon comment, I think they are easier and less of a hassle, so she's missing out.

For sure India and many Asian and African countries are not what we might call clean countries. - Personal feelings about hygiene is even low with people, who qualify as international students and are able to travel overseas. I have seen women - financially not poor at all - from such countries, who took a shower once a month and during period, they put a piece of cloth like a handkerchief or small towel or tissue-papers into their panties. Many women from these countries do not care much about their period. They understand even there are tampons and similar products made for period for sale everywhere, but they feel they do not need that products for themselves.

Suggest me a good laptop for final year comp engg student in india?
Suggest me a good laptop for final year comp engg student in india?
I am a final year computer engg student at Mumbai University (MU, India)...I am gonna be moving to stay at a rented room near my college for my final 8th semester..so I am gonna be needing a laptop / netbook..i'm giving some specs here..please suggest me a good one..as I am not good with brands.. HDD: upto 200GB RAM 2GB (more would be good in the price range i want, but 2GB ho toh bhi chalega..or other option is, i can guy with 1GB and then upgrade it to 2GB, which i believe would be slightly cheaper) budget: upto 30K (slight upgrade might be possible) wi-fi: needed USB ports: 3-4 (i believe most laptops do offer these many) OS: Win7 (I believe most laps do give an option to upgrade from default "home basic" to "professional") DVD writer drive : needed battery life: i am actually a first-timer laptop buyer...so dont know much abt it..but going by the stds i have seen so far..i wud prefer a 6-8 battery life.. my usage: pretty basic actually...word docs..ppts..internet / mail / porn..Tennis gaming (Tennis elbow 2011)...project work (my project requires me to use Java WordNet Library JWNL..) also we have a subject in out final sem called "multimdeia sys design" for practicals of which i would need some decent graphics like maya s/w (dats wat is in the syllabus..i dont know much abt it actually..)will it be significant factor in terms of performance?? I would prefer a netbook with your choices. I am an engineering student too. I use the ACER 532h 2Bb. And it has no problem running CAD softwares like AUTOCAD 2006 & Catia v5 r16.... I hope you will get one of your choices from here. The best deal is that you can get a netbook within Rs 15-20k. Hi, I am a F1 student who just got my first oncampus job. My employer gave me form w4 to fill. I need to know as a part US-Ind tax treaty how many total allowances I am entitled too. Can I specify standard deduction as a part of allowances. This referred from Pub 519 pg 43 Column 1- "If you are eligible for the benefits of Article 21(2) of the United States-India Treaty, you may claim an additional withholding allowance for the standard deduction." If yes, then total should be two right. I am single and no spouse or dependents. And are non resident aliens exempt from NY state taxes.

Hi, I'm an F-1 student from India in my 4th year. In the previous years I have claimed the standard deduction and personal exemption in my 1040NR EZ forms and have received a partial refund of the total taxes withheld. I know a friend who has claimed that the entire earnings for the year (~20K) is exempt under article 21(2) and has received all the federal tax withheld. Is this legal? Can I claim 100% tax exemption too? I get compensated for teaching as a TA in my school. Thanks in advance.

The student has subjects as follows : Phy, Che, Bio-chemistry, Zoology and language(English). Now can the student aim for Doctor(M.B.B.S) or ENGINEERING as she has no mathematics ? The course was newly introduced in tamil nadu at STANES school of HSC (Coonoor,Tamilnadu India). Now the student has completed 12th std this year... Can the student aim for Doctor(M.B.B.S) or ENGINEERING even though she has no mathematics...? All the bio-chemistry students do not have mathematics there and i do not know about situations in other places. The student wants to go for Doctor. or an Engineer. Is it possible. Inside Tamilnadu . Any Genuine Suggessions/Help/Idea.......from experts Please and people from Tamil nadu(mostly welcome as they would be familiar with it). International Student from India...Parents refusing to pay for US education?
Hi...please dont be rude. I am a HS student in India. I have had an exceptionally good academic record and i have applied to many US universities. The problem is that i dont go along too well with my parents reg this aspect. My father's a doctor and wants me to become one and IN THE SAME COLLEGE AS HIM... thats frustrating...and US colleges require a financial declaration showing about $32000 in Liquid...i have the amount in Fixed deposit, bequeathed by my grandfather...but i dont know if colleges accept that. And my mom's not helping either because she feels i may abandon the family if i immigrate in future. It is possible for my dad to file the affidavit but he doesn't want to...because i wanna go into research...and i had a major manic depression thing in the last year, attempted suicide...I just wanna get away from these people i am forced to call family. Colleges wont give me decisions until i show the money, nor can i get a visa...banks in our country wont issue loans until i show proof of admission...i am frustrated... And the deadline is just less than a month away...my life is devastated ;( P.S TOEFL iBT...102/120 my parents still didnt bother to ask why i took the test... Please God dont give children to ppl who dont deserve them...

If you have fixed assets then you will have to sell those assets to have the required liquid assets. There is no way around it since clearly the banks will not give you a loan until you are enrolled in a college, and you cannot enrol in college until you can show them you have cash assets. Don't give up. Life is too precious. We all have to deal with parents who can stand in our way. If you can, sell your fixed assets. This will open the door to freedom for you. Hope this helps.

I'm going to be in India for a year, in either Pune, Maharashta state or Ahmedabad, Gujarat state, studying art. I'm a lesbian, and I was wondering if this will be a problem for the culture, like something I shouldn't bring up, or if either of the cities are welcoming of LGBT people.

I am an indian. Lesbians are not common in india. It is considered something abnormal, so no one openly accepts it. Since it is not accepted in the society, it is better for you to keep it a secret, if not,there will be difficulty in getting apts. for rent and rooms in the hostel. You may have problem if you let them know or try to practise it in india. Sorry,we are not that open minded yet. savithri

i got a us visa for 9 months when i was student in canada,but after completing the studies when i came bak to india n applied for renewal of us visa i got denied for lack of economic ties though i have valid visas n travelled to europe n uk many times????shud i reapply instantly or shud give it a break to apply....please suggest me

It has gotten much more difficult to get a visa to the U.S. You MUST have compelling proof of ties to your home, and money is the best. Unless your circumstances have changed, you need to wait to reapply.

Hey, If you're an engineering student, you will have to deal with math. In bio-tech, not so much, but a certain amount of math will be there. Especially in the first and second semesters... Especially if youre in electrical or electronics, you will have to deal with a lot of equations and numericals. In computer science, your basic logical and programming abilities will matter more. Ultimately it all boils down to what you want to do. Even commerce and economics have math. After a while, if you chosse to do an MBA or GRE you will have to brush up your math for the entrance exams as well as for actual courses. Even i was bad at math, and even now im not really very good at it, even though i've improved. So my advice, do what you want to do, because you'll probably have to deal with math, in one way or the other, in almost any field, whichever you choose. Later on you'll realize that math isnt really that big of a deal after all. There are loads of engineering students who hate maths but are doing quite okay.

all of my documents are ready and I am going to submit my UK tier 4 visa application in Mumbai ,my course will start on 15th of September .as you know I am Iranian and living in India with student visa I need to give my valid Indian visa with my documents and I have my Indian visa until end of September . But the problem is that my consultant told me that i must have at least 6 months Indian visa is this true? ????DO I NEED AT LEAST 6 MONTHS INDIAN VISA TO GET MY UK VISA? oops I am Iranian passport holder please answer if your 100 % sure not like first guy who is just thinking.

This is very true that as per rules your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the commencement date. Don't take risk on it in any case as your VISA will simply be rejected by authorities. Don't take that chance. Apply with proper documents. Best of Luck... :-)
